Ready Mix Concrete is one of the most used building materials in construction industry. Ready mix concrete is almost always produced in a batch plant that mixes the key ingredients of concrete (Cement, Aggregates, and Sand and Water) to the specific design or recipe required for a particular construction project. Additional chemical additives may be added to the Mix design for a variety of reasons including but not limited to adjusting the strength of the concrete mix, giving the concrete a particular color for aesthetic reasons, or depending on weather conditions to speed up or slow down the chemical process of hydration which results in the hardening of the concrete.
Once the concrete is mixed to specification it is delivered to a job site by way of a Concrete Mixer Truck. The concrete mixer continues to mix the concrete on the way to the construction project to allow for evenly mixed ingredients within the concrete which may settle out in not continually mixed

The Ready Mix Industry in the United States is highly influenced by Multinational Building Materials Companies on an ownership level as well as from a vendor’s perspective. The economic drivers of this influence are twofold. One, The multinational companies need a place for their materials to go i.e. manufactured concrete and by having a controlling interest in the right concrete producers through ownership the multinational has a greater control on where their products are placed.  Second by aligning with a one of the building materials producers, ready mix producers can see a cost savings in sourcing there materials which results in increased revenue for their respective companies.  Although the ready mix concrete industries has seen a high rate of consolidation by Multinational Firms there are still quite a few independently owned concrete producers in the US that offer the same value proposition to the construction industry as the multinationals do. In some instances the independent concrete producer is the market leader.

Ready Mix Concrete Has some unique characteristics which make it an ideal building material.
